Terms of use
Last updated: 29 September 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and SettleWell Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17333474), registered office Bartle House, 9 Oxford Court, Manchester, England, M2 3WQ ("SettleWell", "we", "us"). They govern your use of the SettleWell app (the "Service"). By creating an account you agree to them. Please read "Not legal or immigration advice" and "Disclaimers and liability" carefully: they limit our responsibility to you.
1. Who can use SettleWell
You must be 18 or over and able to enter a binding contract. If you add information about a family member, you confirm you are entitled to provide it.
2. What SettleWell is
SettleWell helps you understand where you stand on your UK immigration journey: personalised timelines, absence tracking, readiness views, alerts and AI-assisted guidance grounded in published sources such as GOV.UK. It is an information and planning tool. It is not a law firm or an immigration adviser, and it does not submit applications for you.
3. Not legal or immigration advice
- SettleWell provides general information and guidance only. It does not provide legal advice or regulated immigration advice, and using it does not create a lawyer–client or adviser–client relationship.
- UK immigration advice is regulated. For advice on your situation, consult an adviser regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) or a qualified solicitor.
- Immigration rules change, often at short notice, and how they apply depends on your circumstances. We do not guarantee that information in the Service is complete, current or applicable to you.
- You are responsible for your own immigration decisions. Check important information against GOV.UK and, where it matters, with a regulated adviser before acting.
4. Your account
Keep your sign-in secure and your information accurate: the quality of your guidance depends on it. Tell us promptly if you think someone has used your account without permission. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Profile, Delete account.
5. Your content
You own the information and messages you put into the Service. You give us a limited licence to host, process and display them only to provide the Service to you, as described in our privacy policy. To answer your questions, Ask sends your message and relevant journey context to our AI providers. We do not use your content to train AI models.
6. SettleWell Plus subscriptions
Some features need a paid Plus subscription. The price, billing period and what Plus includes are shown in the app before you buy.
- Payment. Plus is sold through the App Store or Google Play. Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account when you confirm the purchase.
- Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the same price and period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancelling. Manage or cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings (in the app: Profile, Plan). Cancelling stops future renewals; Plus stays on until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting the app or your SettleWell account does not cancel a store subscription.
- Refunds. Refunds for store purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies. This does not affect your statutory rights.
- Price changes. If we change the price, the App Store or Google Play will tell you in advance and, where required, ask for your agreement before you are charged the new price.
- When Plus ends. Your data stays. Plus features lock until you subscribe again, and nothing you've entered is deleted.
7. Acceptable use
Don't use the Service unlawfully or for anything other than managing an immigration journey; don't provide information you aren't entitled to, or impersonate anyone; don't try to break, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to the Service; don't resell it; and don't misuse Ask (for example to extract our prompts or generate unlawful content). We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, content and branding, belongs to SettleWell or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own immigration journey under these terms.
9. Third-party services and links
The Service relies on third-party providers and links to sites such as GOV.UK. We are not responsible for third-party sites, and your use of third-party services may be governed by their own terms.
10. Availability
We work to keep the Service available and reliable but can't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change or discontinue parts of it, with reasonable notice of significant changes where we can.
11. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that its information is accurate, complete, current or suitable for your circumstances. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights, including your right under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to digital services provided with reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Subject to that, we are not liable for:
- loss from relying on information in the Service without checking it with GOV.UK or a regulated adviser;
- indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit, opportunity or data; or
- immigration outcomes, decisions, refusals, delays or costs, which depend on the Home Office and your circumstances.
Subject to the above, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or £50.
12. Ending these terms
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or use the Service in a way that risks harm to others or to us. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as intellectual property, disclaimers and liability) continue to apply.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date above shows the latest version. For material changes we'll tell you in advance and ask you to agree before you continue. If you don't agree, you can stop using the Service and cancel your subscription.
14. App Store terms
If you downloaded the app from Apple's App Store, these additional terms apply:
- These terms are between you and SettleWell only, not Apple. SettleWell, not Apple, is responsible for the app and its content.
- Your licence is limited to using the app on Apple-branded products you own or control, as the App Store's Usage Rules allow.
- SettleWell, not Apple, is responsible for maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to provide any.
- If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the app's purchase price (if any). To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- SettleWell, not Apple, is responsible for any claims about the app, including product liability, failure to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection claims, and claims that the app infringes someone else's intellectual property.
- You confirm you are not in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must also follow any applicable third-party terms when using the app.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes go to its courts. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts. Nothing here removes your rights as a consumer to rely on the mandatory law where you live.
